Dinghy racing 2024 has started

Let the Dinghy Sailing Season Commence!
The 2024 Dinghy Sailing Season started on Saturday 23rd March. 3 intrepid Ely SC cadets braved the squally moderate winds, rain and hail. Thanks to everyone who came down to the club to help with rigging club boats.

Ken Wheeler Wins Model Yachts Easter Egg Races
Congratulations to Ken, winner of the Model Yachts Easter Egg Races. The conditions were pretty challenging for the model yachts. Well done to everyone that took part. The big boats get their chance to win some chocolate next Sunday.

Training Dates and Skills Progression
Dates for the 2024 Training Courses have been published and are now available for booking by club members. For skills progression the club is offering an Adult Level 2, Cadet Stages 3 & 4 and an Advanced Seamanship Skills course during the season. 2024 Sailing Calendar
Withmuch anticipation, the dinghy sailing season is only one month away. The season starts on Saturday 23rd March. This is a week earlier than usual, but as Easter is very early this year, we want everyone to have a chance to sail before the first cup race of the season on Easter Sunday. 2024 Winter Working Parties Begin
Winter working parties at Ely Sailing Club kicked off today with a fantastic turnout from club members. It was amazing to see so many members of all ages out in force! A great start has been made on cutting down the overgrowth, fixing up the starters' box, decluttering around the club and getting started on repairing the start line! Ely Cadets Win at the final Cambs Youth League 2023 Event
Seven Ely SC cadets travelled to Hunts SC for the final round of the 2023 Cambs Youth League. With a moderate, gusty easterly throughout the day our squad of awesome cadets had some challenging conditions. However all of them stuck at it and sailed extremely well, through all three races. At the end of the day the Ely cadets came home with an impressive haul of medals and trophies.

Ely SC on tour on the Norfolk Broads
A group of 15 Ely sailors have had a grand day out on the Norfolk Broads. The club hired 3 Rebel class boats from Hunters Yard. With moderate winds the staff at Hunters recommended a reef and storm jib on each boat. After a while of working out which bit of rope did what (Is that the gaff halyard or the lifting halyard? Dunno, try giving it a pull) we made our way out

July Sailing Course Cancelled
Unfortunately we have had to cancel the July Adult and Cadet course due to the forecast of strong winds that are higher than our safety limit. We will be pushing out details of a replacement date as soon as we have confirmed instructor availability.
