Flag signals: the Newsletter of Ely Sailing Club April 2026
Despite the very gusty wind for the first couple of weekends of the season, sailing is back! Thankfully the weather has settled down, the sun has been shining and we've had some lovely sailing at last. Our talented cadets got the season off to a good start at the first Youth League event at Cam SC last weekend, taking second overall as a club. Congratulations in particular to Edward (3rd overall), Fergus

2026 Easter Races
Happy Easter! It was certainly an egg-citing day and the conditions were, one could say, a little hare-y. 8 Brave sailors across 7 boats were at the club today to take part in the Easter Egg races - with the reactions of a bunny required, it's been a breezy day. After having defaulted to plan B early on when the race computer failed (old school here we come), it was go

Easter Weekend Update
You may have seen that the forecast for Saturday afternoon is for gusts of up to 35kts, so we've decided to postpone the Dinghy Launch afternoon until the 18th April. There will still be rescue cover for anyone who wants to give it a go, but obviously it's not ideal conditions for novices or anyone who's not sure how much they can remember!

Flag signals: the Newsletter of Ely Sailing Club March 2026
)>2070349<( Despite February seeming to last well into at least March, it's finally sailing time! First, we would like to extend a massive thanks to everyone who has pitched in to help with the working parties this year; we've got an amazing amount done and the clubhouse is looking fantastic. We must mention that the new curtains, which not only look great, but also make the

And with that, the 2026 winter working parties have come to an end...
We've done it! After weeks of sawing, drilling, cutting, making, sewing, cleaning and painting, the winter work parties have come to an end. It's been a brilliant few weeks with the first few focussed on cutting down all the overgrowth and many hours re-rigging a problematic halyard (now all working again). We then moved on to sawing launching systems, hanging new curtains (fancy), refreshing the club, resetting cardinals, sorting the club boats berths and

The calendar is now live on the website. On the working party front, a big thank you to everyone who has helped so far; lots has been done both inside and out, including replacing the main doors, which have been getting harder and harder

Flag signals: the Newsletter of Ely Sailing Club January 2026
)>2029983<( Christmas may already be fading in our memories, but thankfully there's lots to look forward to at the club in 2026. Catherine is hard at work on the sailing programme for the year and once that is settled, the duty roster will be made available mid February-ish so that you can volunteer for the dates that suit you best. On the social front, Brent and his wonderful
