Laying Up Supper 2021

On Saturday 13th November Ely Sailing Club held its 75th annual Trophy Presentation Evening which was once again an enjoyable and convivial occasion.

The trophies on display looked magnificent, each and every one eagerly awaiting a new home for the coming year ahead and to be proudly displayed by their worthy recipients. The clubhouse was decorated to befit the occasion with the dining tables resplendent with decorations that made for a sociable dining experience.

The evening kicked off with a hearty “Bangers & Mash” cooked and served by the Commodore’s good friends and publicans Howard and Michelle. An assortment of desserts followed, which much like the meal, disappeared very quickly!

After a brief pause the prize giving ceremony followed, with each winner having their achievements read out by Commodore Simon Leeks and trophies awarded by him and his wife, Jan Leeks. Prize winners received a certificate of their awards and the trophies themselves.

Expressions of thanks and gratitude were offered to all those who had contributed their time willingly in setting up for the evening and for throughout the season, especially the training team and other members who had contributed to the smooth running of the club during the past year.

Well done to all the prize winners, and a special thank you to all the members who attended and made it such an enjoyable evening.
