Commodore's Waffle

We are now into the final month of sailing for 2018, and will then have the annual Laying Up supper in November. We have a lot happening in the next few weeks. After numerous requests, we extended the social sailing season, and we still have four more social sailing Saturdays. Please make the extension to the season worthwhile by coming along and sailing.

For the cadets, I was hoping to take a team to Paxton Lakes on Saturday 13th October. This is good opportunity to sail at a different venue, but unfortunately, I currently have only two cadets who want to take part. I will arrange both transportation and boats. So if your children would like to take part then please email me.

We are also running another single day of school holiday sailing on 22nd October. The ten original places were quickly filled, but I have now got more help, and so I have added an extra 4 places. Go to the club website to book.

The final competition of the season are the Halloween races on the 28th October. We will be running special races for the youths to encourage them to take part. There will also be special Halloween treats between the races. Please note the early start.

The Laying Up Supper is on 17th November at the Club. Your committee has put a lot of effort into making the club more suitable for such social events. This means that the whole social experience has been showing steady improvement. The club is being redecorated at the moment and should be looking much smarter for the finale of the sailing season. The magnolia ceilings, walls and woodwork are all being repainted. Tickets for the laying up supper are available on the website.

The final social event of the year is the Christmas Dinner. This has turned into a not-to-be-missed feast, far better than most restaurants can manage, at very reasonable cost. A great end to the year!

On the presumption that it is best to leave the boring stuff, that no one reads, till last..........

The Club AGM on is on 22nd November. I will be completing my second two year stint as commodore. Mark Stamford is standing as the new commodore. Mark will only be taking the post for a single year. Mark and his partner Chris have put in a massive amount of work for the club. So I am sure his year as Commodore will be successful.
