The sailing season is drawing to a close. The unusually brilliant weather on Saturday drew out the social sailors in large numbers. With 14 boats out on the water it was a great day. The winds on Sunday were perfect for rain, but the turnout was disappointing.

We have only two more weekends of sailing before we close for the winter break. Sailing will finish after the Halloween fancy dress racing on Sunday 29th.

We are already making plans to improve the racing turnout next year. An early coaching camp, followed by regular coaching before racing should encourage more participation. We are also considering a relaxation of the rules on parents always being in attendance. Regular youth sailors, who attend coaching sessions, should be well able to cope by themselves. We will of course always have adult supervision.

The training this year has been a fantastic success. The funds raised by the training will be going into upgrading both the sailing equipment and shore facilities. We will be carrying out a major upgrade to the powerboat shed this winter. The emphasis is too keep upgrading the equipment to make things easier for members. The launching ramps for the Wayfarers have certainly helped.

The club has purchased more 5ft round tables with new folding chairs. Round tables give a more friendly, social feel and so the whole dining environment will be more welcoming this year. Their first use will be at the two social events in the run up to Christmas.

The laying up supper and prize giving is on Saturday 18th November at 19:30. This will again be a Hog roast, followed by the usual delicious desserts made by Liz. Our events committee always aim for great value. The tickets are very reasonably priced at £12.50 for adults and £8.50 for children. You can book online by going to:

The Christmas dinner reach new heights last year. The food was absolutely superb thanks to great efforts by the events committee. We hope for a repeat this year at 12:30 on Sunday 10th December at the clubhouse. This dinner is now usually oversubscribed at the bargain prices of £10 for adults and £8 for children. So early booking is advised by going to:

We hope to see you at these great social events.
