Rear Commdore's Ramble

I hope everyone is keeping well. Now that the new season is under way it's good to see so much interest in the club so early on with the first couple of trophies having been successfully bagged by their lucky recipients. We have a busy year ahead, so please visit the website and/or Facebook page to keep updated.

Saturday 30th April - ELY EEL DAY STALL 10am to 5pm:

We are manning a stall on Jubilee Gardens in Ely to promote the club and provide information about the full range of sailing and powerboat courses that are on offer. In addition, we hope to promote the Ely Sailing Club's Open Day which is the following weekend (please see more below). So, if you happen to be around on Eel Day, then please come and say hello and if you fancy hanging out for an hour or so, any help handing out flyers and spreading the word would be much appreciated. If you are available then please register your participation using the following link: CLICK HERE. If you have any questions, please email the Commodore, Alayne on commodore.elysc@gmail.com.

Monday 2nd May - TEAM RACING EVENT 11am to 5pm:

Today we are holding the first of 3 Team Racing events this year. Don’t worry if you have not had a go at team racing before, you'll be guided through, it’s a fun event for all abilities and something new for you to try. Just turn up and you'll be teamed up with another suspect for a day of tactics and laughs!

Saturday 7th May - ELY SAILING CLUB OPEN DAY 1pm to 4pm:

This is our annual Open Day which has been a huge success for several years. So, please come along and bring your friends and family too for a fun day finding out about what Ely Sailing Club has on offer. It's an opportunity for everyone (especially non-sailors) to test the water, so to speak, and have a go on a sailing dinghy and have a RIB ride. Also available will be a bouncy castle for children, BBQ and the bar will be open for refreshments too. It'll be great to “Push the boat out” and get as many boats on the water as possible to add a splash of colour to the occasion.

This is the day that social sailing resumes on a Friday evening for this season and it is proposed to host a little meet and greet aimed at introducing new members to the club and lets everyone get to know each other. There will be nibbles available from the galley together with a bowl of “Fireman’s Chilli”. The bar will be open (unfortunately you will have to buy the beer!) All members are welcome, both new and not so new.

Many thanks and hope to see you soon!
