Team Racing Stage 2
The club welcomed 6 teams to the second stage of the annual team racing event aimed to put your knowledge of the rules to the test. Despite the constant rain from beginning to end, the hardy sailors battled it out over a total of 15 mini races. In each race, one team was pitted against another and they had to work as a team to slow down their competitors whilst ensuring they finished ahead. All racing was done in the same class of boat to ensure no equipment advantages could be had.
After a competitive day’s racing, Team Chandler and Kirk Stamford built upon their previous success in the first instalment of the team racing series held in July by coming out on top again, after claiming first place in all but one race. Second were Eric and Clare Christan. Third was Ted Pepper and Mark Coupar whilst Jack Knight and Steve Board, who were also on the same points, lost out on countback to come fourth. Jamie Cammann and James Perry finished fifth overall followed by Gabby Perry and Izzy Duckworth in sixth. Izzy was particularly impressive as she held her own against some of the more experienced sailors despite being the club’s newest cadet.
